Townsquare Media Cheyenne/Laramie has acquired 7220Sports.com, a local website dedicated to coverage of University of Wyoming Athletics. Site creator and primary content creator Cody Tucker remains with the property and is named Brand Manager.
Content from the website will be re-purposed on the company’s news/talk stations in Cheyenne (KGAB/650), Casper (KTWO/1030) and Laramie (KOWB/1290), Chief Operating Officer, Local Media Erik Hellum tells Inside Radio.
“There is nothing more local than coverage of University of Wyoming Athletics – Wyoming bleeds brown and gold,” Director of Content Mat Ozee said in a news release. “This acquisition will allow Townsquare to be the premier resource for coverage and information for UW Athletics.”
The company also recently introduced a new CHR station to the market and refreshed country “Y95” KCGY. “106.3 Now FM” KLEN replaces the former “106.3 Cowboy Country” and features the nationally-syndicated “The Jubal Show” in mornings. The 106.3 signal had been simulcasting “Y95” since January. With the launch of “106.3 Now FM,” KCGY is now being positioned as “Southeast Wyoming’s #1 for New Country.”
“Offering more local content to our communities and strategic marketing solutions to our advertising partners drives our ‘Local First’ strategy forward and enhances our position as the leading local media company in Southeast Wyoming,” Market President and Chief Revenue Officer Leslie Hill said in a release.
Hellum added, “Our goal in every market is to be the #1 local media company, and in this market, this is another step towards that goal.”
