As previously rumored and now made official, Trina and Trick Daddy, stars of VH1’s “Love & Hip-Hop: Miami,” will debut in mornings on Cox Media Group urban “99 Jamz” WEDR on Jan. 6, 2020.
“Trick and Trina are legends in hip-hop culture, and a staple in Miami,” Director of Operations Jill Strada said in a release. “I’m excited to kick off the new decade with these two superstars taking their raw talent to the radio.”
“We can’t wait to take over mornings on the radio station we grew up listening to,” Trina remarked. Trick added, “Tune in, because mornings in Miami will never be the same.”
WEDR currently airs the Reach Media-syndicated Tom Joyner in mornings and decided against plugging in “The Rickey Smiley Morning Show,” which is set replace Joyner upon his retirement at the end of the year.
“We are excited to bring such incredibly talented and well-known Miami superstars to be live and local on 99 Jamz,” VP/GM Ralph Renzi added.
Rounding out the cast, WEDR night slammers Radio Big Mack and DJ Nasty 305 will move to mornings as co-hosts of the new “Trick & Trina Morning Show.” Radio Big Mack is a stand-up comedian who is also featured on MTV’s “Wild ‘N Out.” DJ Nasty 305 is a popular South Florida DJ who has toured with several national recording artists.
“It’s such a pleasure to promote Radio Big Mack and DJ Nasty 305 to this new prime time position,” Strada added. “They definitely earned their stripes as premiere on-air talent and will be a huge part of the new morning show’s success.”
A replacement in nights has not been announced.
