WFAN 375

Taking the next step in a nearly complete airstaff makeover, Audacy will move Tiki Barber and Brandon Tierney fromafternoons on the CBS Sports Radio Network to middays on New York sports talker WFAN (101.9, 660) at the start of 2022.

Having a New York Giants legend in middays is expected to be a stronger lead-in to Carton & Roberts’ afternoon drive show while also helping lure advertisers to “The Fan.” Having hit their stride after eight years on the network, shuttling “Tiki & Tierney” to WFAN is likely to be a smooth transition.

Chris Oliviero, who has methodically overhauled WFAN since arriving as Senior VP/Market Manager in May 2020, says both hosts are “already very familiar to the FAN audience, so their voices joining ‘Boomer & Gio’ and ‘Carton & Roberts’ creates a powerful must listen to our weekday lineup for both listeners and advertisers.”

“Tiki & Tierney” replace “Moose & Maggie” – Maggie Gray and Marc Malusis. New York Post sports radio sleuth Andrew Marchand predicts Gray will take another role with the station or at Audacy and Malusis might return to part-time on-air work. Malusis also works for SNY.

Barber played 10 seasons with the NFL Giants, retiring in 2007 as the team’s all-time leading rusher, and all-purpose yardage leader. He began his broadcasting career at WFAN in 1998, which led to stints at WCBS-TV, Sirius Satellite Radio, YES Network and eventually as a morning host on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends.” After retiring from the NFL, Barber served as a correspondent for NBC News and Sports, mainly on “The Today Show” and “Football Night in America,” but also covered the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing for MSNBC.

Tierney, a Brooklyn native and longtime New York talk show host, earlier worked at crosstown rival “ESPN New York 98.7” WEPN-FM. He also serves as a radio analyst for St. John’s basketball games and hosts the “Red Storm Report” with former head coach Steve Lavin on MSG Network. Tierney also hosted afternoons on WFAN sports sister “95.7 The Game” KGMZ-FM San Francisco.
