Midwest Communications Duluth VP/Market Manager Shawn Skramstad retires after 47-years in the industry. Skramstad’s career began on the programming side before moving into sales and included positions at KDWB, WCCO, and KEEY Minneapolis prior to joining Red Rock Radio where he served as President and oversaw the Duluth/Superior market. He joined Midwest Communications when the company purchased Red Rock in 2017. Read more

Mark Vogelzang will retire from his role as President of Maine Public at the end of the fiscal year on June 30. Vogelzang joined the public media group, which operates seven radio stations throughout the state, in January 2012. Cincinnati radio and TV personality Pat Barry has died at the age of 69 due to complications from COVID-19. Barry spent the bulk of his radio career at Hubbard Broadcasting hot AC “Q102” WKRQ. After he left the radio industry, Barry served as a weatherman on WLWT-TV and WXIX-TV, WKRC-TV reports.  Read more

Zach Strief exits his role as play-by-play radio voice of the New Orleans Saints, heard on Entercom news/talk WWL-AM/FM New Orleans (870/105.3), to return to the team as a coach. Strief is a former offensive lineman for the Saints. Shane Gibson, better known as Shane Brother Shane during AM top 40 radio’s heyday, died in Monday in Virginia at age 78.  Best known for his work in Buffalo at WKBW, WYSL and WGR in the ‘70s and ‘80s, Shane possessed a unique jive-talkin’ style and deep affection for Buffalo, embodied in signature Shane-isms such as, “Buffalo – She’s big, she’s bad, and she knows how to boogie!”  Read more
