Roger Christian

After being downsized out of his midday gig at Entercom hot AC “Star 102.5” WTSS, Buffalo Broadcasting Hall of Famer Roger Christian has landed across the street at oldies WECK (1230). The locally owned station is heard on the Tonawanda-licensed translator W263DC at 100.5, complementing Cheektowaga-licensed W275BB at 102.9.

Christian had been with WTSS for 43 years, working under its previous monikers of “Rock 102” and “Majic 102.5.” He starts Sept. 16 at WECK as a weekend and swing-shift personality. He’ll also host the “WECK Music Road Show With Roger Christian,” providing entertainment and music for wedding receptions, class reunions, retirement parties, etc. Christian DJ’d WECK owner Buddy Shula’s wedding eight years ago. “Roger is one of the most talented and respected broadcasters in Buffalo,” Shula said.

Before joining then “Rock 102” in 1976, Christian worked overnights at top 40 WYSL (1400), and as music director at former top 40 WGRQ (now 97 Rock).
