Vox Media, which produces talk podcasts including The Weeds and Vox Conversations, has hired Liz Kelly Nelson Amber Hall as its new Deputy Editorial Director of Talk Podcasts. Hall will oversees Vox’s portfolio of interview and roundtable audio content.
Prior to joining Vox, Hall spent more than five years at WNYC New York where she worked in a variety of roles on the syndicated radio show “The Takeaway,” most recently as the show’s senior producer managing editorial planning and production. Hall earlier helped launch the spinoff “Politics with Amy Walter” series in 2018 and served as the show’s senior producer for its entire run (2018-2021). Hall earlier worked at SiriusXM Radio where she was the executive producer and co-creator of the progressive morning show “The Agenda.” And she worked at the public television series “In The Life,” an LGBTQ-focused newsmagazine show.
“Amber has built an amazing reputation with her work at ‘The Takeaway’ and “The Agenda.’ We’re looking forward to her turning her considerable talents to the evolution of Vox’s talk podcast slate,” said Vox VP of Audio Liz Kelly Nelson in the announcement.
Vox Media has in recently months been ramping up its podcast business. This month it struck a deal to buy Punch, the media brand dedicated to drinks and cocktail culture. And it formed a long-term strategic partnership between its Eater brand with the food podcast Gastropod. In April, Vox Media acquired Cafe Studios, the podcast-first media company known for Preet Bharara’s podcast Stay Tuned with Preet.
