Castbox NEW2021 220

The podcast listening app Castbox is angling for a bigger share of in-car podcast consumption with a new partnership with Faurecia Aptoide Automotive. The auto tech company is expanding its audio and entertainment portfolio to vehicle users worldwide and Castbox and podcasts will be along for the ride.

“It’s important for us to be available for users of connected cars and this partnership with Faurecia Aptoide is a great opportunity to expand our presence in this segment,” said Castbox founder and CEO Renee Wang. “Our mission is to simplify users’ access to endless content in multiple languages, anywhere, through any device. Now, OEMs across the globe can choose to add our app to their offerings and we hope this enhances the experience of existing users as well as help new users discover this medium.”

Faurecia Aptoide is a joint venture between Faurecia, one of the world’s leading automotive technology companies, and Aptoide, the third-largest Android app store in the world. They joined forces in 2019 to develop and operate Android app stores for the global automotive market. Faurecia Aptoide’s solution offers carmakers and their customers a destination to get the latest apps for their dashboard system. They will now have the option of adding the Castbox app.

“Through Castbox’s extensive content library, we bring a wealth of choice to vehicle owners,” said Thijs van Herkhuizen, General Manager at Faurecia Aptoide. “Podcasts are growing in popularity worldwide and are a must-have for drivers of today’s connected vehicles,” he said in the announcement.

Castbox is now joining the list of more than 200 apps that are already part of the Faurecia Aptoide Automotive portfolio. Castbox is available in more than 70 languages and that may give it more appeal in markets outside the U.S. than some other podcast listening apps. Since its launch in 2016, Castbox says it has had more than 40 million users globally including 5 million monthly active users.
