Her previous late-night television talk show tucked viewers into bed. Now a podcaster, Chelsea Handler is waking people up. Through tomorrow (August 22), the host of the iHeartPodcast Network show Life Will Be The Death of Me is offering Amazon Alexa owners the option of waking up to a special greeting from her.
The collaboration between iHeart and Amazon will serve up Hander with a different take on mornings. Alexa owners will simply need to say “Alexa, good morning” to the device to hear back what are described as “LOL-worthy exchanges” from Handler.
Handler launched the first season of her Life Will Be the Death of Me podcast in May, timed to coincide with the release of Handler’s memoir, in which she discusses how the 2016 presidential election spurred her to make major life changes. The show features interviews between the comedian and her inner circle of friends recorded live from her current book tour. In addition, it will also highlight themes from her memoir as she chats with TV and film personalities, news anchors and authors about her life, her work and how her year of self-discovery has shaped where she’s headed next.
Handler has already been a fan of podcasting, telling the Wall Street Journal earlier this year that her favorite show is Pod Save America. As for whether the iHeart podcast is the start of a bigger commitment to the medium, Handler is leaving the door open. “I wanted to see if I like it (but) I’m on board with no hair and makeup,” she told the Associated Press.
