Crooked Media, a left-leaning media company that publishes 11 podcasts, including the popular Pod Save America, is expanding into the polling business just in time for the 2020 Presidential election. The firm has partnered with progressive polling firm Change Research to produce a dozen polls during the campaign cycle. Axios reports the first poll will be released this week, leading up to the first Democratic Presidential debates.
The polling franchise, called “PollerCoaster 2020,” will feature reaction polls to events like the debates, as well as long-term trend polling. Information collected will also be used to help Crooked Media tailor its own election coverage and to focus its podcasts and other content on issues that are engaging voters, especially among Millennials. Axios notes that the polling partnership is the first time Crooked Media has moved beyond progressive politics and opinion programming.
Crooked launched in January 2017 by a group of veteran Obama White House staffers with the “Pod Save America” podcast hosted by Tommy Vietor, a former national security spokesman; Jon Favreau, former Director of Speechwriting; and Jon Lovett, also a former presidential speechwriter.
