For the second time this week a podcaster is announcing they’re adding distribution on Deezer, the global music streaming service. The podcast hosting company Blubrry says after working quietly for the past year behind the scenes, it has struck a deal to begin distributing shows it hosts on Deezer beginning next week. “We touch in excess of 75,000 shows and have 150 million downloads a month across all of our customers. So, we could bring 75,000 shows to Deezer,” said Blubrry’s CEO Todd Cochrane.
Connecting with Deezer is particularly appealing to podcasters since the Paris-based digital audio platform has a bigger footprint outside the U.S., particularly in the Middle East where podcast listening is quickly ramping up. Deezer says it has 14 million monthly active users in the more than 180 countries worldwide where it operates.
Deezer already has more than 28,000 podcasts on its streaming service. That includes hundreds created in-house as part of its Deezer Originals series. Earlier this week the podcast hosting company Libsyn announced it too would begin distributing shows on Deezer.
