The NAB Show in Las Vegas may have become a virtual event but the industry’s awards were still real. And the broadcast trade group last week presented the NAB Digital Leadership Award to J.D. Crowley, Chief Digital Officer at Entercom. In addition to overseeing the company’s Radio.com portal, Crowley has a growing role in podcasting after Entercom acquired Cadence13 and Pineapple Street Media during the past year.
“I feel so fortunate to work in this business at a time when new technologies are allowing us to deliver content, information, and entertainment, in exciting new ways. But as exciting as tomorrow’s technology is, I’m still a firm believer that it is storytelling and not just science that is our industry’s greatest gift,” said Crowley in comments made during the online award presentation. “It is technology’s job to allow us to tell these stories in fresh new ways, and to help us reach consumers in moments that matter.”
Before joining Entercom, Crowley held several digital and content positions at CBS, including Executive VP of Digital for CBS Radio, Senior VP of CBS Brand Studio and Senior VP and General Manager of Digital for CBS Television Distribution.
“A focus on storytelling along with the expanding number of environments for listeners to access content, is what led me to audio three years ago and what our team is so grateful to get to contribute to building audio’s future,” he said.
