Evergreen Podcasts is planning to develop a new gaming channel in 2021 but it is not waiting until next year to begin adding shows to the burgeoning vertical. Game Fix, the podcast hosted by gamers and radio veterans Dave Spano and Verlane Snell, has become Evergreen’s first gaming podcast.
"We were originally approached by a friend telling us about Evergreen Podcasts. Skeptical at first because, in the past, podcast networks have given us a bad taste in our mouth," said Spano, who said the alliance has come together during the COVID-19 pandemic without a hitch. "We are excited to see what the future holds to help get the word out for our podcast. It is a labor of love to say the least, and it very much feels like Evergreen understands and embraces that," Spano added in the announcement.
Game Fix live streams its show every Monday night at 9pm ET and then the episodes are available as an on-demand podcast. It targets not only the advanced gaming addicts but also the newcomers who are learning. As a network, Cleveland-based Evergreen will take over the show's email strategy, marketing efforts, and hosting and distribution.
"The energy that Dave and Verlane bring to the show is unparalleled," Evergreen CEO Michael DeAloia said, "We believe in this show – and have high hopes for its continued success. Game Fix will become the cornerstone to a larger gaming podcast channel on our network."
Spano is radio engineer for the Cleveland Browns Radio Network. Snell is the former production director at Entercom’s Cleveland sports outlet “92.3 The Fan” WKRK-FM.
