Black Podcasting 220

Veteran gospel radio host and syndicator Mike Chandler is branching out into podcasting. He has debuted Black Podcasting, a new app that is targeting African American listeners. Chandler says his goal it to make the app a destination for a wide array of podcasts celebrating Black culture and topics of interest.

"Our mission is to make it easy for people to discover, connect and to engage with thousands of high-quality black podcasters," says Chandler. "Our goal is to become the largest gathering of black podcasters in the world. We are creating a non-exclusive directory of African American and urban oriented podcasters. Whether, the podcast has 500 followers or 500,000 followers."

Using the public RSS feeds, the app is able to feature a range of podcasts from iHeartMedia’s The Breakfast Club and Red Table Talk with Jada Pinkett to Spotify’s popular Higher Ground podcasts created by former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama, plus popular radio shows like The Steve Harvey Morning Show and an on-demand version of NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt.

The Black Podcasting app also features music channels where listeners can hear R&B, Hip-Hop, classic soul, and gospel web streams.

Chandler is a veteran broadcaster and host of the gospel “100.9 Rejoice” WFMI Norfolk-based syndicated “Mike Chandler & Friends” morning show and CEO of the syndicated Rejoice! Musical Soul Food network. In 2017, Chandler won the annual Stellar Award for Gospel Announcer Of The Year.
