From E! Network personalities to three-time Olympians and NBA veterans to reality TV stars, there is a variety of new voices showing up on podcast apps this week. There’s also news of a new show coming with ties to Oprah’s OWN Network.
Here’s a sampling of shows launching this week:
Sports Like A Boss pairs three-time Olympic volleyball player Holly McPeak and sports broadcaster Anne Marie Anderson. The show offers a different take on sports podcasts as the two women will explore how to use sports to create a better lifestyle. McPeak and Anderson will leverage their experiences and the knowledge in a show that will feature athletes, celebrities, and expert guests. Their first guest is “Good Morning America” host Robin Roberts. PodcastOne says new shows will be published each Tuesday.
Naked with Catt Sadler is a new show from Midroll that features Catt Sadler, an entertainment reporter with the E! Network. It’s billed as a “safe space” for women to “get honest and real.” The show will feature Sadler in conversation with women from the realms of entertainment, business, health, and wellness. Helping the show is Sadler has a big social media audience with 506,000 Instagram followers and 175,000 Twitter followers.
The GG Podcast is a new PodcastOne show that’s all about e-sports. It is hosted by three-time NBA Champion and Echo Fox owner Rick Fox, Twin Galaxies CEO Jace Hall, and Todd Roy, Head of Content for the social networking site Twin Galaxies.
Enough About Me features Shep Rose. He’s best known as a cast member on the Bravo reality TV show “Southern Charm.” A weekly show, it involves Rose interviewing athletes, teachers, soldiers, stunt men and even himself in a “weird, wild, funny and dramatic” podcast.
Iylana: Fix My Life features television host and life coach Iylana Vanzant. The podcast is a partnership between Oprah’s OWN network and Midroll. On the show Vanzant works with those whose lives are in chaos using heart-to-heart conversations and a large dose of tough-love to help them confront unresolved issues that are causing upheaval in their lives. The show will debut June 18.
Say It Forward pairs financial advisor Rebecca Rothstein and Lee Ann Daly, who has served as Global Chief Marketing Officer for ESPN, Reuters and Pressed Juicery. PodcastOne says their show will go inside the real life stories of fascinating people at the vanguard of art, music, business, pop culture, TV, film, and fashion. “The interviews take you inside to uncover struggles and joys that have never been revealed before, as their guests rewind to the beginning and “Say It Forward,” a teaser says.
Pivot to the Future is a new podcast hosted by Omar Abbosh, group chief executive of Communications, Media & Technology at the business services company Accenture. The show features interviews with CEOs who will discuss their pivots and share tips on how leaders can help their own organizations transform and thrive during epic disruption. The lineup won’t all be CEOs however. Musician, entrepreneur and futurist will.i.am is the show’s first guest. The podcast series will also draw from Accenture’s new book “Pivot to the Future: Discovering Value and Creating Growth in a Disrupted World.”
Contagious Conversations may sound like a sci-fi thriller but it’s the podcast from the CDC Foundation. In the second season of its podcast, the show will feature interviews with individuals who are playing a vital role in making the world safer and healthier and answer questions such as whether someone’s ZIP code affects their health and how close scientists are to eradicating polio. “With each interview, we see the power of storytelling and how the conversations can give us new perspectives and add to our understanding of complex health issues,” said CDC Foundation president Judith Monroe in a statement
