The iHeartRadio podcast Lethal Lit: A Tig Torres Mystery is the latest show to be headed for television screens. Cavalry Media has reportedly acquired the rights to develop a TV show based on the podcast, which is a co-production of the iHeartPodcast Network and Einhorn’s Epic Productions (EEP). Deadline reports the TV deal comes as Lethal Lit: A Tig Torres Mystery gets picked up for a second season.
The first series, which debuted last fall, was a six-part series that followed teen detective Tig Torres as she returned to her small hometown of Hollow Falls, where her aunt was framed as a serial killer ten years earlier. In the show, Torres investigates the mystery of the Lit Killer murders and broadcasts the findings on her true crime podcast, But as she gets closer to the truth, the killings, each based on murder scenes from classic literature, begin all over again and she becomes the final target.
Calvary Media, the Los Angeles-based media company launched last June by “Fifty Shades of Grey” co-producer Dana Brunetti and former Relativity Media finance executive Keegan Rosenberger, will have a hand in development of season two of the podcast. “Following the first season of Lethal Lit and its enormous success as a young adult podcast, we love that audiences clearly want more of Tig Torres, and we are excited to be partnered with EEP to bring this original heroic female franchise to television,” Brunetti told Deadline.
Actress Rebecca Soler starred as Tig Torres in the first season of Lethal Lit. It’s not clear if she’ll return in the second season or what the plot line will be. The second season is expected to be released next winter.
“We were overwhelmed with the response from the first season of the podcast and can’t wait to start on the second season with iHeartMedia. And, to be working with the team at Cavalry to bring Tig and Hollow Falls to TV is such an honor,” Einhorn said in a statement.
