Sharing, contributing and collaborating. That is the mandate of the second-annual International Podcast Month in September, a global “opportunity for podcasters to work with and learn from people who inspire them, and for listeners to discover creators they may have never come across otherwise,” says IPM Organizational Team Member Therin Stapp.

Some 150 podcasters have signed up to participate so far, doubling the number of podcast creators from 2018’s initial IPM; while 50+ episodes of exclusive content are expected to be shared within the forum. Categories for inclusion include Audio Fiction Minisodes, Creator Conversations, Non-Fiction Minisodes, RPG Actual-Play One-Shots—and a month-long blog that draws attention to the programs.

“IPM is about collaboration across the podcasting community and introducing listeners to voices and stories they haven’t heard before,” the organization’s website explains. “It’s about showcasing how talented creators in this community are and how important our stories are. And it’s about highlighting marginalized creators: We’re building communities and extending the love to sharing listeners and boosting each other’s voices.”

Last year, the independently organized IPM brought together 75 podcasters with 70 podcasts from five nations. Some 36 episodes were shared across the 30 days of September, fostering 10,000 Unique Downloads.

On July 1, IPM launched an Indiegogo Campaign, aiming to cover basic costs and to provide giveaways for podcasters and listeners that participate. “IPM is a wonderful opportunity for podcasters to cross-promote, celebrate each other and share the love of podcasting with the world,” the organization says.
