The iHeartRadio Podcast Awards are this Friday (Jan. 17) in Los Angeles and we’re getting some more details about some of the celebrities that will be on hand at the iHeartRadio Theater for the second annual celebration of all things podcasting. The awards showcasing spoken word entertainment will also have some music as iHeart has just announced that singer-songwriter Gavin DeGraw is scheduled to perform.
The awards show will begin at 11pm ET/8pm PT on Friday and iHeart has said that radio stations around the country will air the show. There will also be a live video stream of the show through iHeart’s ongoing alliance with LiveXLive.
Among the celebrity presenters and other guests people can expect to see and hear during the show are Will Ferrell, Sebastian Maniscalco, Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon, Becca Tilley, Brooke Burke, Brooks Laich, Dean Unglert, Eric Winter and Roselyn Sanchez, Gavin DeGraw, Kaitlyn Bristowe, Meghan King Edmonds, Nick Viall, Stassi Schroeder, Teddi Mellencamp and Yeardley Smith.
In addition, the event will feature iHeartRadio on-air personalities including Tanya Rad, Ellen K, Charlamagne Tha God, Angela Yee and DJ Envy of The Breakfast Club, Elvis Duran and Enrique Santos.
A trio of winners is already known. Last month iHeart announced who will be taking home the three Icon Awards that pay tribute to the creators, organizations and podcasts that have made groundbreaking contributions to podcasting’s expanding role in today’s popular culture.
The Social Impact Award was given to the New York Times-produced podcast 1619. It is a five-episode series that observes the 400th anniversary of the beginning of American slavery. The Innovator Award was given to NPR’s Life Kit podcast. The how-to series gives listeners tips on a wide variety of subjects, from personal finance, health and wellness, to parenting by talking to the subject matter’s experts to get the best advice. And the Audio Pioneer Award has been presented to powerhouse producers Payne Lindsey and Donald Albright of Tenderfoot TV. Lindsey, a director and independent filmmaker, and Albright, a music industry veteran, launched Tenderfoot TV in 2016 with their first podcast, Up and Vanished, which has received over 330 million downloads to date. It also created the blueprint for Tenderfoot TV’s other No. 1 critically acclaimed podcasts, Atlanta Monster, To Live and Die in LA, Culpable and Sworn.
