The latest episode of the iHeartRadio original podcast from iHeartMedia CEO Bob Pittman, Math & Magic: Stories From the Frontiers of Marketing features MediaLink Founder, Chairman and CEO Michael Kassan. In the podcast Kassan shares his thoughts on the agency review process, which has been a front-burner topic of conversation in the advertising industry in recent years. The advertising industry veteran gives Pittman his unique insights into the process, and what drives them and how clients can – and have – avoided the disruption of agency reviews. “Be careful what you wish for, and be careful of making wild-ass promises that you can't deliver,” Kassan says.
Kassan also provides business advice for advertising and marketing pros, discussing the importance of great storytelling and how it is the most significant aspect of marketing. “Storytelling is still the most important thing in marketing,” he tells Pitman. “And you can have a great media plan, if it's a terrible bit of creative, it's going to die. You know the old joke. Can good media save bad creative, [I’m] not so sure. But bad media can kill good creative.”
Kassan also sheds light on how data found its way into the creative world and the impact it’s having today on key decision making.
