Megaphone has hired veteran digital sales executive David Cohn as VP/Head of Sales for the podcast publisher and advertising company. Cohn, who quietly joined the company in November, most recently had been Senior Director of National Sales with WarnerMedia. He succeeds Ken Lagana who exited Megaphone last August to become Executive VP of Digital Sales for Entercom, Cadence13 and Pineapple Street.
“David has a fantastic track record for not only digital and integrated advertising sales, but also building and keeping relationships with agencies, brands, and sellers.” said Megaphone CEO Brendan Monaghan in a statement. “He’s a huge asset and will look to guide our sales team in big moves in the New Year.”
Cohn has been in the media business for more than two decades years with 18 years of that expertise on the digital side. He had been at WarnerMedia since June 2018, most recently as Senior Director National Sales at its OTT-focused Otter Media division. Cohn previously was VP of National Sales at the mobile video advertising platform Receptive, was EVP of National Ad Sales at the native advertising-focused Ranker, was VP of National Sales at AskMen.com, and served as Chief Revenue Officer at Antenna Media Group—which was sold to Townsquare Media in 2014.
“I am thrilled to be joining the Megaphone team,” said Cohn in the announcement. “This company has created such an innovative product for serious podcasters and advertisers, I hope to bring to the table deeper cross strategies for growth and podcast monetization.”
