Spotify has spent more than $400 million gobbling up Gimlet Media, Parcast and Anchor, but it’s also cutting deals on a much smaller level to grow it’s podcast business. As in a deal for a single show. The music podcast The 500 with Josh Adam Meyers has been acquired by Spotify which has made the show a Spotify Original. Meyers made the announcement in a short promo for his show which notes the podcast will remain available for free.

In The 500, stand-up comic Meyers sits down with comedians, actors, and musicians as he counts down Rolling Stone Magazine’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, episode-by-episode (see the list HERE). Past guests on the nine-month old show have included Bill Burr, Jim Jefferies, Wanda Sykes, Kevin Nealon, and Bert Kreischer. Meyers estimates it’ll take nine years to complete the 500 album journey.

The Hollywood Reporter says the first episode Meyers will record for Spotify will be taped at the Just for Laughs Festival on July 25 with guest Bobby Lee. They’ll discuss album No. 462, R.E.M.’s “Document” set for release on the streaming music service on July 31.
