Sunny Hostin, one of the hosts of ABC-TV’s “The View,” is expanding her true crime storytelling to a new podcast for ABC News. The host of the “Truth About Murder” documentary series on Investigation Discovery, Hostin is working with ABC Audio to produce a podcast that follows the search for notorious murderer Lester Eubanks who has been on the run for more than 45 years.
Finding Eubanks has fallen to a special cold case squad from the U.S. Marshals Service. ABC News Investigative Unit spent a year inside the manhunt being led by Deputy Marshal David Siler, one of their most decorated agents, as he tries to use every available tool to find Eubanks before the fugitive's old age catches up to him.
“They discover new leads, possible sightings, and at every turn found resistance from those who want Lester Eubanks to be forgotten,” said Hostin on the show’s trailer. “What they uncovered is a case that’s more than murder. It’s about family loyalty, a life on the run, and a first-hand look at how the U.S. marshals are trying to solve one of the oldest fugitive cases in American history.” The result is the podcast Have You Seen This Man which launches today (Oct. 23).
Eubanks was convicted of murder and was sitting on death row. But in 1973 he escaped police custody when a program to help rehabilitate inmates took Eubanks and others to an Ohio mall to wander on their own. He hasn’t been seen since. The Marshals Service is hoping the podcast will help deliver the final clue that brings this half-century-old mystery to an end.
New episodes of Have You Seen This Man will be published each Wednesday.
