The curtain has gone up on a new Broadway-focused podcast portal. The Broadway Podcast Network is the creation of Tony and Emmy-award-winning Broadway producer and filmmaker Dori Berinstein and podcast host and producer Alan Seales. Designed to be a go-to-hub for theater professionals and fans alike, the network is rolling out with 30 shows and more than 1,200 episodes.
"The world of podcasting is exploding," Berinstein said. "By aggregating existing theater-related podcasts under one network label and by initiating the development and production of many new podcast programs from diverse and exciting voices, our goal is to create a must-visit daily destination for anyone and everyone who loves theatre.”
Broadway Podcast Network launches with a mix of existing shows like The Ensemblist, The Fabulous Invalid and Broadwaysted with new original content such as The Ladies Who Lunch from Tony Award-winning actress and dancer Donna McKechnie and The Untold Stories of Broadway with host Jennifer Ashley Tepper, based on her popular book series, “You Can’t Say That!”
“The Broadway Podcast Network is an all-access backstage to insider conversations with theatre stars, legends, creators and makers, to rarified theatre history, to provocative discussions about theatre issues and the business of Broadway, to invaluable theatre-related career guidance, to parodies, musical podcasts, innovative theatre storytelling and to so much more,” said Berinstein, who is CEO of the venture.
It’s not the only company targeting Broadway fans. Last January iHeartMedia launched a dedicated website iHeartRadioBroadway.com that features Broadway-themed podcasts and iHeartRadio Broadway, a 24/7 streaming station.
