The House of Pod, the Denver-based podcast incubator and production company, says by its count there are more than 250 podcasts produced in the state of Colorado. Now it aims to recognize the best of those shows with the creation of the Colorado Podcast Awards. It is accepting nominations through Friday (Nov. 15) in five categories, including Best Podcast, Best Episode, Best Host/Co-Host, Best Indie Podcast, and Best New Podcast.
The first round of nominations is open to everyone with the second round of voting being left to podcasters, who are being asked to vote on their top nominees between Nov. 18 and Nov. 30. The winners will be announced Dec. 3 at a gathering planned for Denver.
House of Pod says the awards are part of their goal to galvanize the burgeoning community of creators in their home state. “I remember when I first started making Changing Denver back in 2015, there were maybe a few other local shows going strong. Now, I scroll through my feed and there are just so many great Colorado podcasts,” said Paul Karolyi, House of Pod’s Editorial Director. The organizers say they hope to make the Colorado Podcast Awards an annual tradition.
