Zeno Media and NPR say they have cut a deal to distribute 50 NPR podcasts via zeno.fm and the Zeno Radio app. Catering to diaspora listeners – people who don’t live in their country of origin but maintain their heritage in a new land – Zeno.FM focuses on immigrants around the globe. The platform streams spoken word content in multiple languages from 30,000 broadcasters from around the world to an audience of 20 million listeners. 

The partnership calls for Zeno to highlight popular NPR podcasts from politics to health to culture, including "NPR News Now" and "Consider This,” across its multilingual user base. Additionally, Zeno.FM will feature “Radio Ambulante,” an award-winning Spanish-language podcast that uses long-form audio journalism to tell neglected and under-reported Latin American and Latino stories.

John Lansing, who joined NPR as President and CEO last September, said the partnership “will allow NPR podcasts to reach listeners who may not yet be public radio fans. We are excited about engaging with new audiences around the world.”

Podtrac reported that NPR had retaken the top spot on its monthly ranker of publishers during June. NPR’s unique U.S. audience increased 1% month-to-month and its global downloads grew 5%.
