Signaling a renewed focus on the technology side of the podcasting industry, Panoply Media has renamed the company Megaphone after its flagship hosting and ad-insertion service. The rebranding, which follows a decision by Panoply last fall to exit the content creation business, includes a revamped website and plans to develop new cutting edge tools and services for its expanding client roster.
During the past three months, Megaphone has added numerous large podcast players to its hosting and ad-insertion platform, including iHeartMedia, Vox Media, Himalaya and Cadence13. “We’ve gained tremendous momentum in the last year, and have helped to bring many new podcast publishers and major brand advertisers into the medium for the first time,” CEO Brendan Monaghan said in the announcement. “To build on this success, we’ve chosen to rebrand the entire company with a name our clients already know and trust, providing clarity and simplicity to our business.”
In addition to bringing more publishers onto its platform, Megaphone has also seen success on the buy side, attracting a number of well-known brand advertisers to its Megaphone Targeted Marketplace (MTM) audience-based ad targeting and measurement service. Among them are Chase, Citi, Google, Lexus, LinkedIn, Progressive, Starbucks and Target.
Looking ahead, the New York-based company says it will develop new cutting edge tools and services for its expanding client roster. Those include more robust targeting and measurement capabilities and helping brand advertisers produce and test ads that appeal to demanding podcast listeners. Megaphone says it will also soon unveil tools to help podcasters grow their audiences, which is the top request from content creators.
“We’re proud to embrace the name Megaphone, a tool that amplifies the voice and message of anyone who uses it,” Monaghan added. “It’s an exciting time to be in podcasting, and we look forward to this new chapter of breakthrough innovation that will help our publishing and advertising partners amplify what they have to say.”
Megaphone’s suite of podcast tools includes publishing, dynamic ad insertion, forecasting, reporting and analytics.
