Jess Cagle is trading print for audio. In making the leap, the entertainment journalist will also enter the world of podcasts. The former People magazine editor-in-chief has been hired by Sirius XM Radio as its chief entertainment editor. As part of those duties,Cagle will host and produce several podcasts for Pandora in addition to hosting a daily pop culture and entertainment chat show each afternoon on SiriusXM. That show—which will air 3-5pm PT—is set to launch in the fall from new studios recently built by the satellite radio company in Hollywood.
Julia Cunningham, who has been hosting the “LA Daily” show on SiriusXM, will co-host the show alongside Cagle.
“I’ve always wanted to do a news and talk show with a lot of humor, smart commentary and in-depth interviews,” said Cagle. “I'm so grateful for the opportunity to make that a reality and excited to work with SiriusXM on their growing podcast and video content.” Cagle previously hosted “The Jess Cagle Interview” on SiriusXM's Entertainment Weekly Radio.
"We are thrilled to announce a new live daily show hosted by Jess Cagle. It's hard to think of anyone who knows Hollywood better or could bring more insight and expertise to the conversation about pop culture,” said Megan Liberman, Senior Vice President of News, Talk, and Entertainment at SiriusXM.
Cagle recently relocated from New York to Los Angeles and he’s also been named as a senior fellow at the USC Annenberg Center of Communication Leadership & Policy.
