Fans of broadcast radio have gotten a second podcast called Aircheck to add to their playlist. Philadelphia radio veterans Rich De Sisto and Paul Kelly today (June 22) launched their Aircheck podcast that will include conversations with fellow radio hosts, program directors, general managers and owners.

De Sisto said he has been developing the show since October 2018. “My thought was to put together a podcast where the guests would be from radio,” he said. “Radio is one of the greatest mediums ever. It informs, it entertains, it surprises. Our industry brethren from markets large to small each have those special career moments they love to share. Aircheck is where these stories will be told.”

The debut season opens with an introductory episode for both the podcast and the hosts. De Sisto is currently an air personality at Beasley Media Group’s “Classic Rock 102.9” WMGK Philadelphia and AC “Magic 98.3” WMGQ in Middlesex-Somerset-Union, NJ. He earlier worked in the New York; Trenton, NJ; Atlantic City, NJ; and Huntington, WV markets.

Kelly owns the Philadelphia-based Kelly Music Research. His on-air past includes stops in Scranton, PA; Poughkeepsie, NY: and Atlantic City, NJ which is where he met De Sisto in the late 1980s.

The first regular episode includes a conversation with SiriusXM personality Nina Blackwood. Other guests lined up for Aircheck include iHeart classic rock KZOK-FM Seattle (102.5) host Danny Bonaduce; former Philadelphia radio host Couzin Ed; SiriusXM’s Eddie Trunk; and former MTV and WYSP Philadelphia programmer Neal Mirsky. The hosts say they are accepting suggestions for other radio veterans that also should be in front of their mic. “If there’s a story to be told – Aircheck will give it a listen,” their announcement said.

“In addition to the shared stories on Aircheck, we will be incorporating the rewound audio from those special story moments,” said De Sisto. The first season will include interviews with Gregg Allman, Peter Frampton, Sammy Hagar, Ted Nugent, Slash, Little Richard, Clarence Clemons, Brett Michaels, and Aerosmith’s Tom Hamilton.

The launch of Aircheck comes just days after YEA Networks’ syndicated morning show host Tino Cochino launched his new podcast called The Aircheck. Cochino’s chat show leans toward some of the bigger names working in radio today. Recent guests have included Premiere Networks syndicated morning hosts Bobby Bones and Kurt “Big Boy” Alexander; iHeart CHR “102.7 Kiss FM” KIIS-FM Los Angeles night personality JoJo Wright; MediaCo rhythmic CHR “Hot 97” WQHT New York morning host Ebro Darden; and J-Si Chavez, who is part of YEA Networks’ syndicated “The Kidd Kraddick Morning Show.”

Kelly said the idea behind Aircheck is “long overdue” with “room for many versions of it in the podcast space” with an endless supply of potential content. “In a day and age when radio continues to go through many changes, Aircheck provides the roundtable environment for story and idea sharing of great interviews with music artists, concert promotions, station events, and even tales from the company Christmas party,” he said.
