The podcast industry has no shortage of conferences with regional events dotting the calendar year-round. But today the largest gathering of podcasters gets underway as Podcast Movement hosts the sixth, and what’s expected to be its largest-ever conference with an anticipated 3,000 attendees in Orlando.

There will also be more radio broadcasters in the crowd than ever before. Jacobs Media’s third annual “Broadcasters Meet Podcasters” conference-within-a-conference event returns and this time will span all three days of Podcast Movement. “When we attended our first Podcast Movement four years ago, there were just a handful of broadcasters in attendance,” Jacobs Media’s President Fred Jacobs said in an announcement about the event. “Fast forward to 2019 and podcasting has become a significant opportunity for radio companies. Hundreds of radio broadcasters and savvy podcasters will join us this year.”

Keynotes for Jacobs Media’s “Broadcasters Meet Podcasters” include Conal Byrne, creator of Stuff Media and the How Stuff Works podcast. Byrne is now the President of the iHeart Podcast Network and will talk about the merging of a podcasting company with a broadcaster. Second is Eric Nuzum, developer of the Invisibilia podcast as well as other podcasts for NPR. He also headed up Audible’s audio efforts, and is author of the new book, “Make Noise: The Creator’s Guide to Podcasting and Great Audio Storytelling,” coming later in 2019. And third is Steve Lickteig, Executive Producer of audio for NBC and MSNBC, and the individual behind Rachel Maddow’s Bagman, Chris Hayes’ Why Is This Happening? and Chuck Rosenberg’s The Oath podcasts.

“Broadcasters Meet Podcasters” will also present a first-ever live focus group of the “Stacking Benjamins” podcast and on Friday, there’s the inaugural “Podcasting Speed Mentoring” event, where podcasters can speak directly with some of the industry’s leading experts in the field.

iHeartMedia also checks in to say it is taking part in several other panels at this year’s Podcast Movement. They include a keynote by Stuff You Missed in History Class hosts Holly Frey & Tracy V. Wilson; a live touring panel featuring Stuff You Should Know hosts Josh Clark & Chuck Bryant as well as Glynn Washington of Snap Judgment and Josh Lindgren of CAA; a panel about comedy podcasts that will feature Carolina Barlow, co-host and producer of The Ron Burgundy Podcast; and a panel on What (or Who) Makes a Hit Podcast moderated by Byrne. The company is also sponsoring a party Thursday night at the Tin Roof Orlando featuring iHeartRadio talent DJ Obscene and local favorite DJ D Strong.
