Even as the rest of the media world saw events and conferences called off during the past several months, a lone standout has been Podcast Movement. Its 2020 Dallas conference was pushed back from August to October with the hope that the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic might wane. Instead, its Texas location has become one of the hot spots and now the organizationconfirms what has been a likely outcome for some time: the event is cancelled.

In the announcement video, Podcast Movement said it will instead conduct a virtual conference October 19-29 that organizers said will feature more than 100 virtual panel discussions, keynote addresses and other features. That includes four days of live-streamed sessions and two weeks of on-demand workshops. And while the in-person networking opportunities that are the hallmark of any conference will be gone, Podcast Movement will feature virtual networking events and parties. Registration fees will range from $100 to $600.

“We appreciate your support regarding the changes in this year’s event. We understand that for most of you, this is a small thing in the grand scheme of life,” organizers said in the announcement.

Podcast Movement is also planting a flag in the industry’s 2021 calendar. It plans to return to in-person conferences next August 3-6 in Nashville.

Launched in 2014, Podcast Movement has grown into the industry’s largest event.
