Apple Podcasts has sent an email to publishers that says they have made updates to its system that makes it easier to check whether an update has been made to a show’s RSS feed. “If you’ve updated your show’s RSS feed with new content or metadata and do not see the changes reflected within Apple Podcasts after a few hours, you can refresh your feed manually in Apple Podcasts Connect,” it tells podcasters. Apple says it has also added new tools to help producers to build customizable marketing materials. 

Actor Christopher Rivas -- a star in the Fox sitcom “Call Me Kat” -- has signed a podcast development deal with StitcherDeadline reports two projects are already underway. The first is a documentary podcast about the man who inspired Ian Fleming’s James Bond character. The other is a 40-episode interview-style show hosted by Rivas about race relations. Both shows are set for release in 2022. Deadline says Rivas will executive produce with Carlos E. Hernandez, Ari Andersen and BlondeMamba, with Workhouse Media serving as a contributing producer.

Podcasts will be part of the 2022 NAACP Image Awards. Organizers have added four new podcast categories including Outstanding News and Information Podcast, Outstanding Lifestyle/Self-Help Podcast, Outstanding Society and Culture Podcast, and Outstanding Arts and Entertainment Podcast. The submission deadline is November 22. The NAACP Image Awards celebrates the outstanding achievements and performances of people of color across more than 80 competitive categories spanning film, television + streaming, music, and literature. They will be handed out February 26 in Los Angeles. Now more than ever, we need Black voices to push the envelope, educate, and inspire audiences around the world,” said NAACP President Derrick Johnson.

The cannabis company cbdMD says The Joe Rogan Experience’s audience has “welcomed the CBD community with open arms” and so co-CEO Martin Sumichrast says they have signed on to keep buying ads on the podcast through 2022. The brand has been with The Joe Rogan Experience since 2019, saying its long-standing partnership is rooted in the fact that Joe Rogan is a customer. “This partnership is something we wanted to really focus on and extend into the new year,” said Sumichrast. “We’re excited to see where this partnership goes well into 2022.”
