Rolling Stone magazine has signed a deal to market and distribute its podcasts through the Westwood One Podcast Network. Rolling Stone currently produces two podcasts including Useful Idiots, the political series hosted by journalist Matt Taibbi and podcaster/writer Katie Halper, and Rolling Stone Music Now, which features the writers and editors of the magazine discussing the biggest stories in music, featuring interviews with their favorite artists, and discussing what's playing in the office. Westwood One said the deal will cover the back catalogue of the two series in addition to future episodes.

…Libsyn reports among the shows that its hosts, based on episodes released in September and with downloads tracked though the end of October, the medium number of downloads was 133 during that time frame. That was up from 125 in August. The adjusted mean for those episodes was 1,358 downloads, up from 1,313 a month earlier. On the company’s The Feed podcast, VP Rob Walch said Libsyn said 6.5% of the shows it hosts had five thousand or more downloads.

 …The ABC News flagship daily podcast Start Here, hosted by Brad Mielke, posted special editions on Election Day and on Wednesday, Nov. 4. ABC News says that included its first ever midday bonus episode on Wednesday afternoon, featuring the latest election updates. Start Here has continued to post other bonus episodes as news warrants. The ABC News-produced Powerhouse Politics podcast, hosted by Chief White House Correspondent Jonathan Karl and Political Director Rick Klein, has also been releasing daily episodes this week.
