...The Washington Post has hired Sean Carter as the newspaper’s first full-time audio engineer and composer. Carter recently returned to the U.S. after having spent seven years in Bangkok where he worked as a freelance audio producer, sound designer and composer who worked with clients ranging from Vogue and Vice to the United Nations. He earlier worked as a recording engineer in Atlanta. The Post publishes a number of podcasts including the daily news series Post Reports and political shows such as Cape Up with Jonathan Capehart.

...Signal Hill Insights has shared some early peeks at the Canadian Podcast Listener report. It shows podcast listening in French Canada was up sharply with monthly listening up from 17% last year to 21% this year and weekly podcasting up from 12% to 17%. “Looks like French language content may finally be catching up with demand,” says Signal Hill. It will release the fifth annual Canadian Podcast Listener report in late November. Signal Hill produces the data with the support of The Podcast Exchange.

...The YouTube series Some More News, hosted by Cody Johnston, and its companion podcast, Even More News, co-hosted by Johnston and Katy Stoll, have partnered with Kast Media to launch an audio version of the full length YouTube show. “With a network of hundreds of thousands of subscribers, the content that fans know and love will remain the same, but will be more accessible and available in all listening and viewing environments,” says Kast Media in the announcement. The Some More News YouTube video and simulcast podcast will be released Tuesdays, followed by the Even More News podcast on Fridays. 

... The Black Effect Podcast Network will celebrate its first anniversary with a live-event planned for Oct. 7. The show will bring together several of the network’s top podcasts in Atlanta’s Variety Playhouse hosted by Flame Monroe, cohost of the Laugh & Learn podcast. 

The show will also feature live recordings from Whoreible Decisions with Mandii B and WeezyWTF and The 85 South Show with DC Young Fly, Karlous Miller, and Chico Bean. The hybrid event will allow fans to either attend in-person or virtually. The Black Effect Podcast network launched in Sept. 2020, created by syndicated radio host Charlamagne Tha God and iHeartMedia. More info is HERE.

... Supporting Cast says it has signed a deal with Index Media to handle subscription sales of Savage Lovecast, the podcast from sex and relationship advice columnist Dan Savage. Index Media had been supporting its own subscription platform. "Signing on with them lets us concentrate all our resources on producing great content and getting the benefit of partnering with a company focused on delivery and a great customer experience,” explains Index Media President Rob Crocker. Supporting Cast says since Savage Lovecast made the jump over to its platform, the podcast has seen a 20% year over year increase in its revenue. Subscribers get extended, ad-free episodes.

...CNN says Scott Galloway, the host of Vox Media’s The Prof G Show podcast, will host a new show on its new subscription streaming service, CNN+, set to launch early next year. The network says the show will focus on where business and technology collide. Galloway is a professor of marketing at NYU’s Stern School of Business. He also co-hosts the Vox Media’s Pivot podcast with Kara Swisher.

... Acast has inked a deal to bring another cast member from “The Real Housewives” franchise into its fold. This time it is Jackie Gillies, one of the stars of the reality TV’s Melbourne, Australia version. Gillies is launching the podcast Shine It Up which will offer listeners inspiration and motivation to live their best life as its host chats to special guests, answers questions, and shares everything going on in her life. “I really wanted to do something more to inspire, motivate and empower people around the world, so the natural next step for me was to launch a podcast – and partnering with Acast has really felt like the perfect fit,” said Gillies. As part of the Acast Creator Network, Acast will handle distribution and ad sales for Shine It Up.
