Questlove, the musician, DJ, producer, culinary entrepreneur, designer and best-selling author has struck a deal to take his critically acclaimed music and pop culture-based podcast Questlove Supreme to the iHeartPodcast Network. As part of the arrangement Questlove will curate and produce a new slate of iHeartRadio Original podcasts that will go beyond music starting early next year.
The Questlove Supreme podcast premiered in August 2016 and has had limited availability with the show only being posted on Pandora for its two seasons. By moving production to iHeart, Questlove’s podcast will not only be available on iHeartRadio but all the major listening apps.
“We’ve attracted an incredibly passionate and enthusiastic fan base so far with Questlove Supreme, and partnering with iHeartMedia, the leader in the audio space, will now allow us to bring these conversations to a much larger audience and take it to the next level,” said Questlove in the announcement. “I’m also excited to have the opportunity to launch even more thought-provoking content within the iHeartRadio ecosystem and beyond,” he added.
Questlove Supreme is hosted by Questlove and five of his closest friends, and also features a well-known guest on every episode. The show digs into the stories of musical legends and cultural icons driven by conversation ranging from the guest’s origins to their life passions and current projects. Previous guests have included Usher, Michelle Obama, Chris Rock, Maya Rudolph, Weird Al and Chaka Khan.
“Questlove is a treasure trove of musical and historical knowledge, with one of the smartest perspectives on culture today and we are thrilled to partner with him to bring his podcast and a new slate of original content to the iHeartPodcast Network,” said Conal Byrne, President of the iHeartPodcast Network in a statement. “His passion is a great complement to our music podcasts, and with our unmatched reach across multiple platforms, we can’t wait to share Questlove Supreme with more listeners than ever before.”
Questlove is the drummer for The Roots, the featured band on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” on NBC. That could present some promotional opportunities for his podcast content. His show will also be part of the excerpts offered to local stations as part of the Sunday Night Podcasts show on hundreds of iHeartMedia-owned broadcast radio stations.
The new season of Questlove Supreme is slated to begin Nov. 6.
