Sony Music Entertainment will launch nearly 40 new podcasts this year, according to the company, which announced several new shows during its first-ever IAB Podcast Upfront presentation on Wednesday. The list includes new projects from actor David Tennant, who currently hosts David Tennant Does a Podcast With, and writer-producer-director Adam McKay, who discussed two of his upcoming podcast projects — including a show about the historical and political forces that defined basketball in the 1980s and a new podcast featuring YouTuber Ari Cagan.

Sportscaster and NFL sideline reporter Lindsay Czarniak also previewed a new music and sports crossover podcast she is hosting early next year. Sony Music Entertainment also introduced My 90s Playlist, a new music-themed podcast hosted by Tracy Clayton and Akoto Ofori-Atta that will celebrate the music of the not-so-distant past.

Sony Music also revealed that it plans to release a range of other new podcasts across multiple genres in the coming months, including true crime, politics, current events, music and social and racial justice.

“We’re leveraging our status as a global company to amplify voices from around the world to the widest audiences possible,” said Emily Rasekh, SVP, Podcast Business Development and Operations.
