Parking, pools and gyms? So Boomer or Gen X. If a developer is serious about after Millennials and Gen Zs, the hot new feature just might be constructing a podcast studio in the building.
That’s what a Chicago-area real estate company has done with a new luxury high rise that’s opened in Oak Park, IL. The building is called the Albion Oak Park, and developer Albion Residential says the 265-unit building is “a collaborative community” that sports “luxury-driven amenities. But what constitutes luxury now apparently includes a podcast studio, which the real estate company says is right up with the gym, pet spa and indoor dog run.
It’s not just in Chicago. Similar podcast spaces have been popping up in Washington. A soon to open building called Artisan 4100 will include among its amenities a recording studio with three soundproof booths. It is designed to appeal to both podcasters and musicians, although the developer says whomever is using the space will need to bring their own equipment with them. "Artists have particular needs for their craft," Landex Development CEO Peter Siegel told DC Urban Turf.
