With the continued buildout of its corporate digital department and expansion into podcasting and eSports, Beasley Media Group is taking the next step towards monetizing these efforts. The company is searching for a Chief Digital Officer to drive its digital media business. It’s the latest in a series of moves the company has made as it works on a plan to diversify its revenue streams.

This newly created position will report directly to CEO Caroline Beasley.

In an exclusive Inside Radio podcast, when discussing the company’s rapid expansion outside its core radio business, the chief executive said “it’s important to diversify by revenue stream and not be so reliant on ad-based revenue.”

The Chief Digital Officer position is the latest in a number of corporate moves within the company’s digital department. A radio outsider, Lori Burgess, was hired as Chief Digital Content Officer in January after serving as a consultant to the company. Burgess brings a background from the publishing industry to her position.

Burgess, in turn, brought in Brian Ives, former editor-in-chief of Townsquare Media’s Loudwire online publication, as Managing Editor of its Centralized Digital Team. Corporate digital team veteran Jennifer Williams was elevated to VP/Digital Marketing and Erika Beasley added Corporate Digital Content Director oversight for the family business.

During the podcast, Beasley told Inside Radio that the company’s digital transformation started at the top in order to make sure executive team members were all on the same page. “We have to transform our company and focus on growing our digital revenue,” she said. “And we are seeing the results on that. Everyone is on board… we are all working toward the same goal.”

The new Chief Digital Officer “will direct a staff that initially includes about 50 employees and work collaboratively with the managers and staff of Beasley’s radio stations to drive digital initiatives” a job description reads. “We are looking for not only a digital expert, but also a seasoned manager with media experience. As the role is transformational, the individual is responsible for working with our local radio operations to refine sales processes, generate new revenue, and adopt digital technologies across the entire business.”
