Univision and Pop Sugar, the online brand targeting women, are teaming up to create a new bilingual podcast targeting Latinas. Juntos We Shine (Together We Shine) is hosted by Andrea Chediak, fashion reporter for Univision’s “Despierta América” morning TV show, and it will receive on-air promotion across the company’s radio, television and online properties, including primetime TV spots.

“Podcasting is a powerful medium for sharing inspiring stories about people making a real impact on their communities, and we are thrilled to be working with incredible talent to shine a spotlight on the people behind these inspirational stories,” said Luis De La Parra, Senior VP of Partner Solutions at Univision. “We are also proud to partner with Pop Sugar on this project, which wouldn’t be possible without its support.”

The 16-episode series will showcase the stories of men and women who are committed to making a difference in their communities with ties to such things as Hispanic Heritage Month and the holiday season. The first episode was published today (Aug. 12) and features fashion pioneer Albania Rosario. Other episodes feature microbiologist Kellie Ann Jurado, and Lisa Aldridge, co-founder of The Beauty Board, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting women and single mothers transitioning out of homelessness to looking and feeling their best before a job interview. 

“Pop Sugar is excited to partner with a true category leader in Univision to create an authentic, inspirational and results-driven partnership designed to surprise and delight readers, listeners, and watchers at scale,” said Pop Sugar’s Chief Revenue Officer Geoff Schiller in the announcement.

The series is being produced by Marisa Venegas, a three-time Emmy Award-winning television executive producer, writer and multicultural media expert specializing in long-form nonfiction content. Her 26-year career has included work with NBC, CBS, and Univision. 

Juntos We Shine marks the first time that Pop Sugar has teamed up with a Spanish-language media company in this medium. But it’s the latest joint project by the two companies. Univision and Pop Sugar announced a long-term partnership at last year’s network television upfront and they say the new podcast is part of that larger integrated 360-degree content and marketing program.
