Westwood One has staffed up its podcasting team with four production experts who’ll work to manage a variety of on-demand shows.  With career histories that include The Wall Street Journal, Cadence 13 and Fox News Channel, all four new hires will report to Executive Editor John Wordock.

Joining the network to manage a variety of podcast content are:

  • Madena Parwana has been named Senior Producer, Core Content. She will help manage and produce podcasts that cover news, lifestyle and entertainment, sports, and business/money.
  • Lou Pellegrino is the Senior Producer, Development. He will manage and assess in-bound podcast pitches as well as help to develop pilots and shows. Prior to joining Westwood One, Pellegrino was the executive producer of podcasts for Cadence 13 where he produced The Woj Pod and was involved with Pod Save America.
  • Rebekah Wineman has been tapped as an Audio Mixing Engineer/Studio Technician, where she will support post-production, sound quality, field engineering, and studio maintenance. Wineman previously worked as an audio engineer for The Wall Street Journal, where she mixed the What’s News podcast. In addition she served as a mixing and mastering engineer for NPR’s Latino USA and In the Thick.
  • Sarah McCrory has been named Associate Producer. She will support hosts, help edit and produce shows, and book guests. Before joining Westwood One, McCrory worked as a production coordinator and podcast coordinator for Fox News Channel in both New York City and Washington, DC. She worked on the podcasts Livin’ the Bream and The Fox News Rundown.

“This latest round of hiring further demonstrates Westwood One’s commitment to quality and scale as we grow our podcast business and serve our extraordinary partners and content providers,” said Wordock in a statement. “Madena, Lou, Rebekah, and Sarah have diverse and distinctive skill sets that will greatly contribute to the success and evolution of podcasting at Westwood One.”

Meanwhile, Westwood One has parted ways with one of its digital executives, Tim Sabean, who recently split after serving as Senior VP of Digital Content since joining the network in January 2018. Sabean had been in charge of talent discovery, content partnership development and audience growth strategies with a focus on the podcast space. A spokeswoman says Westwood One has no immediate plans to fill the position.

Sabean’s extensive radio career includes managing rock, oldies, news/talk, and sports stations including managing Howard Stern’s radio network for 14 years. In October 2005, Sabean followed Stern to SiriusXM Radio as Senior VP for its two Howard Stern channels. He also worked as senior VP, Comedy and Entertainment.
