Discover Pods, the podcast recommendation site, has announced it has begun collecting data for what will be the third edition of its Podcast Trends Report. Kevin Goldberg, the founder of Discover Pods, says unlike Infinite Dial reports published by Edison Research that look at the total population, their annual survey only looks at those who actively listen to podcasts. It also surveys podcasters about what’s on their minds.
Among some of the findings in the 2018 Podcast Trends Report:
57% of podcasters list marketing and building an audience among their top challenges
58% of podcasters consider earning revenue important
86% of podcast consumers say they’ve listened to podcast ads
49% of podcast listeners have purchased an item advertised on a podcast
77% of people listen to podcasts for more than 7 hours each week.
61% of respondents spend more time listening to podcasts than watching TV.
