STATION SALES
Nevada – Tyler and Tamra Gunter’s 5T has filed a $1 million deal to buy five stations and four FM translators in the Elko, NV area from Paul and Ketra Gardner’s Elko Broadcasting. They include adult hits “93.7 Jack FM” KLKO, country KWNA-FM/KRJC (92.7/95.3), “Fox Sports 104.7” KEAU, and AC KELK (1240). The four translators including the Elko, NV-licensed K255CE at 98.9 FM; the Carlin, NV-licensed K297BC at 107.3 FM; the Carlin, NV-licensed at 95.9 FM; and the Carlin, NV-licensed K288AU at 105.5 FM. Tyler Gunter previously spent a decade at the cluster, including as its general manager from 2007 to 2010. 5T does not currently own any other stations. It will operate the stations under a time brokerage agreement until closing. Broker: MCH Enterprises
Norfolk-Virginia Beach-Newport News – Jhirber Galva and Ricardo Alegria, the two partners behind Dos Media, have filed an $850,000 deal to buy “La Selecta 1050” WVXX from Hindlin Broadcasting. The deal also includes the Norfolk, VA -licensed translator W277DF at 103.3 FM. The deal includes a promissory note worth $765,000. Dos Media has been operating WVXX under a time brokerage agreement since February 2021. It does not own any other stations.
Arizona – Sanford Cohen and Terry Cohen’s Prescott Valley Broadcasting Co. has filed a $430,000 deal to buy KGXL, Blue Ridge, AZ (94.7) from Rim Country Media. KGXL is a construction permit for a new Class C1 FM. Prescott Valley Broadcasting Co. owns four other stations in the region, but none will overlap with KGXL.
North Carolina – The University of North Carolina’s WUNC Public Radio has filed a $50,000 deal to buy variety WZCO, Chadbourn, NC (89.9) from Columbus County Schools. WUNC Public Radio currently owns eight full-power stations and several translators in the state including its flagship WUNC-FM (91.5) in the Raleigh-Durham, NC market.
Indiana – Educational Media Foundation has filed a $30,000 deal to buy WSSZ, Kokomo, IN (101.7) from Mark McClure’s The Power Foundation. WSSZ is a construction permit that EMF will have until December 2024 to build. EMF currently does not own any stations in Kokomo although Indianapolis contemporary Christian “K-Love” affiliate WIKL (101.7) does cover a portion of the market.
Texas – Daryl O’Neal’s Township Media has filed a $900 deal to buy KVRY, Junction, TX (103.3) from Steve Williams’ American Broadcasting of Texas. KVRY is a construction permit for a Class C3 FM. Township Media already owns adult alternative “Sun Radio Hill Country” KMSN (104.1) in the area.
TRANSLATOR SALES
Pennsylvania – Salt and Light Media Ministries has filed a $50,000 deal to buy the Loyalsock, PA-licensed translator W224AI at 92.7 FM from Maximum Impact Communications. Salt and Light Media Ministries plans to relay contemporary Christian WCRG, Williamsport, PA (90.7) on the signal.
Kansas – Ad Astra per Aspera Broadcasting has filed a $25,000 deal to buy the Salina, KS-licensed translator K243BD at 96.5 FM from Great Plains Christian Radio. The station will be used to relay Ad Astra Per Aspera Broadcasting’s “Rock 95.5” KLBG in the Salina-Manhattan, KS market.
CLOSINGS
Wisconsin – Sage Weil and Michael Crute’s Civic Media has closed a $3.65 million deal with Mangum Media to buy news/talk WRJN Racine (1400) and its two translators the Racine, WI-licensed W260CV at 99.9 FM and the Kenosha, WI-licensed W251BU at 98.1 FM in the Milwaukee-Racine market; oldies “The Eagle 1490” WLCX in the La Crosse, WI market; and AC WCFW (105.7) in the Eau Claire, WI market along with the Eau Claire, WI-licensed translator W228EP at 93.5 FM and the Oshkosh, WI-licensed translator W239CV at 95.7 FM. The deal gives Civic Media two stations in Milwaukee where it already owns talk WAUK (540) while giving the company its first stations in both the Eau Claire and La Crosse markets.
Des Moines – Rick Ball’s Trinity Communications has closed a $1.84 million deal to buy regional Mexican “La Ley 105.5” KDLS-FM from Pedro Zamora’s BAR Broadcasting. Trinity Communications already owns religious KWKY (1150) in the Des Moines market.
Georgia – Peter Michael Galinski’s Mountain Country Radio has closed a $420,000 deal to buy “Mountain Country 103.9 FM” WPPL, Blue Ridge, GA from James White’s Fannin County Broadcasting. The station’s translator – the Blairsville, GA-licensed W232BD at 94.3 FM – is not included in the deal. But Fannin County Broadcasting will work with Mountain Country Radio to help it buy the translator from Blairsville Music.
Texas – Monte Spearman’s Zulu Com has closed a $100,000 deal to buy classic country KWRD, Henderson, TX (1470) from Hanszen Broadcasting. The deal also includes the Henderson, TX-licensed translator K253CE at 98.5 FM. Zulu Com also owns classic hits KNET (1450) and country KYYK (98.3) in Palestine, TX.
Nebraska – My Bridge Radio has closed a $40,000 deal to buy KNGN, McCook, NE (1360) from Kansas Nebraska Good News Broadcasting Corp. The deal also includes the McCook, NE-licensed translator K252FV at 98.3 FM. My Bridge Radio currently has several religious-formatted stations in the region.
